Research interests

My research focusses on the origins and biogeography of the Tropical Asian and Australian floras, and the role of continental biotic exchange between Australia and Asia (the “Sunda-Sahul Biotic Exchange) in shaping this region's mega-diverse flora. I take a multi-scale, multi-lineage approach to this research, employing floristic, phylogeographic and phylogenomic data. I have a particular interest in lineages in the angiosperm order Sapindales (Anacardiaceae, Biebersteiniaceae, Burseraceae, Kirkiaceae, Meliaceae, Nitrariaceae, Sapindaceae, and Simaroubaceae), and am passionate about fundamental taxonomic and systematic research.
